When I first saw this image, I was told to discern what it is. It mad me mad, because I didn’t see it — at first.

But once I saw it, I couldn’t un-see it.

Season 2 Episode 7 - Blackbeard

Once a picture on their website, we see Tom and Gena Metcalf.

Folklorists and historians Gena and Tom Metcalf, on their old, defunct website had a picture of them  holding the skull.  Tom Metcalf said he found no reason to doubt its authenticity. The wayback machine allowed me to grab this picture.
