John

Mike

Mike broke the surface of the unknown in his late-thirties investigating health and wellness information. He found it, but also more than he anticipated… much, much more. As the dominos fell and the facades crumbled, he learned to balance his inner skeptic with an open mind — with a thumb on the scale for the latter. Feeling no pressure to fully accept or fully reject any testimony, he happily holds everyone’s story in his mind, while trying to discern the truth. He lives a quiet, contemplative, suburban life in his ataraxian home in Sykesville, MD.

John learned early that the world’s most perilous secrets often hide in plain sight – on a vinyl record, inside a dusty tome, or whispered down a cobblestone alley.  At Mount Saint Mary’s he double-majored in History and English while managing the campus radio station, producing a DJ show that blended music with sardonic skits, and strutting the stage of the student theater.  He later earned a JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law, then ran an indie bookstore before serving time at Borders Books & Music. A lifelong disciple of martial arts, John holds advanced ranks in several traditional martial arts and has extensive modern Combatives training under a notorious instructor.  With his brilliant wife and razor-sharp daughter at his side, he jets across the United States and Europe, chasing legends – infiltrating Salem’s Witchcraft scene, sweeping through America’s National Parks, storming historic battlefields, scanning the black waters of Loch Ness, and threading Edinburgh’s fog-bound, haunted lanes.  Each expedition adds a fresh leaf to his ever-growing compendium of tales, a private grimoire writ in midnight ink. Now holed up in a secure safe-house in Maryland – its walls lined with rare books, including at least four different, paperback editions of the Necronomicon – he waits for the next summons from the Unknown.  (He will neither confirm nor deny having met the enigmatic giant, Bigfoot.
